Problem Solver Joan Buchanan Lays Out Specific Plans
Walnut Creek, CA (June 19, 2009) - In a CD10 candidate forum, Assemblywoman Joan Buchanan made it clear she has what it takes to get our country moving forward. The evening, packed with over 200 interested folks, was hosted by local Democratic clubs at the JCC in Walnut Creek.
"I want to raise your expectations about what's possible--and then go to Congress and exceed them. Extraordinary times require extraordinary commitment. That's why I am running for Congress.”
Buchanan noted that her track record of turning things around in both the private and public sectors taught her valuable lessons and asked the crowd to let her use those lessons to craft financial solutions for the country. Buchanan offered that the strength of economic recovery depends, in large part, on our support of small businesses.
Buchanan also spoke to the need to make education a national priority and focused on higher standards for teachers and students. In order to achieve that, Buchanan urged full funding of No Child Left Behind, improved student testing, advanced training for teachers, and fully funded mandated programs.
Lennies Gutierrez, State Employee, agrees: "Joan's grasp on education and her detailed approach to enriching and fixing our schools is truly remarkable."
Healthcare reform was a repeat topic throughout the evening with Buchanan citing four elements necessary for success: preserving the provider patient relationship, making sure providers are adequately compensated, promoting prevention over acute care, and ensuring that the system is fiscally sound.

Joan Buchanan has precisely the financial expertise that Congress needs right now to get our economy moving again.
