Jobs and the Economy

California's high unemployment rate contributes to the stagnation of the housing market and reduces revenue collected by local governments, prompting more cuts to the local services that people depend on.

I continue to support legislative actions and host events in my district to create jobs. It must be our top priority.

Assemblymember Buchanan Hosts Employment Fair

(Sacramento) – California’s struggling economy and near record level unemployment is the “front page” story in too many homes. With that in mind, Assemblymember Joan Buchanan (D- Alamo) is hosting an Employment Fair tomorrow, Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at the Robert Livermore Community Center. Dozens of employers, including Aerotek, IAP Worldwide, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Safeway will be there recruiting new employees.

Assemblymember Buchanan, an Alamo resident for more than 25 years and long time advocate for communities in her 15th Assembly District, says bringing employers and employees together is one of the best things she can do for area residents and the regional economy, “We have dozens of employers who are coming to this job fair and we have people from the Employment Development Department coming, so our hope is to connect people with employers in the area and get people back to work.”

What: Assemblymember Buchanan's Employment Fair

When: Tuesday, March, 23, 2010 - 10am to 2pm

Where: Robert Livermore Community Center, Cresta Blanca Ballroom, 4444 East Ave.
